Primary Care
Our Clinic IQ Primary Care Pathways are used in GP Surgeries to provide treatment management for chronic diseases. By automatically ingesting large amounts of clinical data and applying evidence-based guidelines and protocols, Clinic IQ transparently produces accurate treatment recommendations, standardises care, empowers primary care clinicians, and enables patients to be treated closer to home.
Around 15 million people in the UK have a long-term health condition. Chronic disease places a huge burden on the NHS, but while they are among the most common and costly health problems, they are also among the most preventable and controllable.
However, the growing healthcare demands are immense, with increasing caseloads, an ever-expanding body of clinical evidence, ageing populations, and the rising complexity of health conditions and treatments. While guidelines and clinical evidence are in place to ensure care is safe, effective, and defensible, they are often not followed at the point of care due to overwhelming workloads, time constraints, and difficulties in quickly accessing the relevant information. Further, time and resource constraints mean proactive identification of undiagnosed and suboptimally treated patients is not happening effectively.
Supporting primary care clinicians such as GPs and allied healthcare professionals to provide accurate, evidence-based healthcare, closer to the patient, at the point of care and through population health has enormous potential to not only improve health outcomes for patients but also to bring major efficiencies and cost benefits to the NHS.
Deontics Clinic IQ Solution
Clinic IQ is intelligent software fully integrated with GP electronic patient records (EMIS and SystmOne), appearing on a GP’s computer as a toolbar.
The Deontics Clinic IQ tool enhances the GP workflow by providing robust support to clinicians, ensuring they adhere to the latest guidelines for managing chronic diseases. Seamlessly integrating with existing workflows, complementing rather than detracting from their demanding workload, enabling efficient and guideline-compliant care delivery.
Clinic IQ works in the background, interrogating the active patient opened on the GP’s EMR, and providing advanced clinical decision support in the form of:
- Case finding advice
- Investigations & treatment recommendations
- Monitoring advice
- Referral advice
- Clinical prompts
- Patient education & advice and material
- QOF breaches advance warnings & remedial actions
GPs (or allied healthcare professionals) can review the clinical recommendations, and further interrogate them by clicking on the evidence source which will take them directly to the pinpointed relevant sections of clinical Guidelines. This makes all recommendations completely transparent, evidence-based, and specific to the individual patient.
The above functionality happens at point-of-care, but Clinic IQ can also be used proactively. GPs can run Clinic IQ over their entire patient population to identify those who are eligible for clinical pathways and create clinic lists based on them. Clinic IQ then provides accurate and transparent treatment recommendations for each of these patients.
Clinic IQ’s user interface was designed by and with clinicians, so it is highly intuitive and requires very little training. The system captures every outcome, making it transparent and auditable.
Clinic IQ is easily updated with the latest clinical guidelines, and practices have the flexibility to select which evidence sources they want to be included.
Clinical Pathways
Clinic IQ’s first Pathways Package is “Cardiometabolic Diseases”. It includes the following pathways: Lipid optimisation, Hypertension management, Heart failure, Diabetes, Obesity, Familial hyperlipidemia, Diabetic foot, Diabetic retinopathy, Chronic kidney disease, and Peripheral arterial disease.
The lipid optimisation pathway is available now, with hypertension available in December 2024. The remainder of the pathways will be launched throughout 2025.
Lipid Optimisation Pathway
Cardiovascular disease is the leading cause of morbidity, disability and health inequalities in the UK, accounting for 1 in 4 deaths. Lipid optimisation is the most cost-effective intervention for CVD prevention and the best opportunity for NHS resource and cost efficiencies.
Lipid optimisation pathway incorporates national guidance from published NICE, AAC, ESC & Lifespan guidelines. The pathway covers recommendations for primary and secondary prevention of cardiovascular diseases and criteria for case finding for familial hypercholesterolemia. Customisation/localisation of the pathway at PCN level using locally approved guidance is available.
Interested in a free trial?
We are offering all GP practices in the UK a 6-month trial for the first two pathways: lipid optimisation and hypertension. Why? Because we are confident you will love them and want to subscribe to other pathways. If you don’t, it’s very simple to stop. You are not locked into anything.
What does it require?
- Have a (virtual) chat with us. We’ll ask about your needs and wants and will demo our system.
- Information Governance: We take data protection very seriously. All of our systems are compliant with NHS and cybersecurity standards. We will provide you with (or use your own) DPIAs and Data Processing Agreements.
- Installation: We just need a brief chat with your IT providers. Deontics is installed remotely and operates in the HSCN (NHS Cloud), so this step is easy.
- A very short training session. The tool is very intuitive to use, so attend a short session with us, or just consult the videos and training guides we will provide.
- Check-in with us – let us know how it’s going. Want new features? Want new pathways? We’re happy to discuss!
