Royal Free London Breast Cancer Trial: Multidisciplinary meeting Assistant and Treatment sElector (MATE)
MATE, the initial prototype designed to streamline Multi-Disciplinary Team Meetings (MDTM), was used successfully in the Royal Free breast MDT for over three years.
An analysis of 984 cases discussed in the MDT revealed strong performance:
- MATE’s recommendations showed 93% concordance with the recorded MDT decisions.
- Concordance increased to 97% when compared with the final treatment patients received.
- The system also demonstrated a significant capability by identifying 61% more patients eligible for clinical trials.
